Kaaterskill Capital is currently reviewing select independent film projects for potential development and financing consideration.
As we expand our focus into independent film, we are drawing upon decades of experience in capital raising, finance and entrepreneurship, together with longstanding relationships throughout the independent filmmaking community.
Our objective is straightforward: identify compelling projects and work with the people behind them to determine whether the creative vision can be translated into a credible, financeable production opportunity.
What We're Looking For
We are interested in independent feature-film projects with a strong story, a clearly defined creative vision and a realistic path toward production.
While every project is different, we are particularly interested in projects that have progressed beyond the idea stage and can demonstrate some combination of:
A completed or substantially developed screenplay
An experienced producer or production team
Director and/or meaningful talent attachments
A thoughtful and realistic production budget
A clearly identified audience
A credible distribution or market strategy
Available or identifiable tax incentives and other production financing
A defined amount of private capital required to complete the financing plan
We recognize that compelling projects don't always arrive completely packaged. An exceptional screenplay, filmmaker or creative team may warrant consideration before every element is in place.
A Selective Approach
We are not looking to finance every film that comes across our desk.
Independent film is inherently speculative. We believe that serving filmmakers—and ultimately the people willing to provide capital—requires being selective about the projects we pursue.
Our interest begins with the story, but it doesn't end there.
We look at the creative proposition, the people involved, the budget, existing attachments, financing requirements, potential audience and the realistic path from screenplay to production to market.
When those elements begin to align, we want to have the conversation.
More Than a Capital Introduction
Our interest is not simply in introducing a filmmaker to an investor.
For projects we choose to pursue, Kaaterskill's role may begin earlier: understanding the project's financing requirements, identifying elements that may strengthen its presentation to private capital, helping develop the financial narrative surrounding the production, and working alongside the project's existing creative and professional team.
The filmmaker makes the film.
Our focus is helping create a credible path to the capital required to make it.

If you are a filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, entertainment attorney, manager or other industry professional with a project you believe warrants consideration, we'd like to hear about it.
For an initial review, please provide:
Project title • Logline • Genre • Current stage • Estimated budget • Financing secured to date • Key attachments • Brief synopsis • Principal team members
Please do not submit a complete screenplay with the initial inquiry. If the project appears appropriate for further consideration, we will request additional materials.
