Joel Hunter Borrelli

Joel Hunter Borrelli brings together two distinct areas of experience: a career in speculative capital raising and a longstanding involvement in the independent film community.

Joel began his career on Wall Street as a commodity broker, raising private capital for high-risk, high-reward, speculative investments. His work required identifying prospective investors, communicating complex opportunities and their risks, and developing investor relationships through direct solicitation. He later founded and operated his own commodities firm in the original World Trade Center and was formerly a Series 3 licensed, registered, CTA, Commodity Trading Advisor.

His involvement in independent film grew from a film project of his own that he has been developing for many years. That project ultimately led to a longstanding friendship and association with one of the country's leading independent film producers, resulting in a much broader involvement in the independent filmmaking community.

Over the years, Joel has participated extensively in cold script readings alongside filmmakers, screenwriters, actors, producers and other industry professionals. Having read hundreds of roles from developing screenplays, he has had an unusual opportunity to encounter stories, writers and creative talent at an early stage of the filmmaking process.

Kaaterskill Capital represents the convergence of those two worlds.

Through Kaaterskill, Joel is developing a selective independent film finance and development practice focused on identifying compelling projects, helping position them for financing, and connecting filmmakers and producers with appropriate sources of private capital.

His approach is grounded in a principle carried forward from his earlier career in speculative investments: risk should never be disguised. Independent film is inherently speculative, and prospective investors should have the opportunity to evaluate both the potential of a project and the very real possibility of loss.

Kaaterskill Capital's objective is not to finance every project it encounters, but to work selectively with filmmakers, projects and financing opportunities where creative vision, experienced execution, realistic economics and private capital have the potential to come together.

Diana Clemente

Diana Clemente is an accomplished New York entrepreneur and business executive whose career spans commercial real estate finance, transportation and the development and leadership of privately held businesses.

Diana currently serves as a Managing Director at Greystone, one of the nation's leading commercial real estate finance companies. Her experience within a major institutional real estate lending organization, combined with decades of building and operating businesses of her own, brings Kaaterskill Capital a perspective grounded in both entrepreneurship and the world of sophisticated commercial finance.

Recognized by Crain's New York Business among New York's leading women business owners, Diana is also a recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award.

Diana has held numerous leadership and public-policy positions within New York's transportation industry. She serves on the Board of The Black Car Fund, is President of the Black Car Assistance Corporation, and was appointed by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to serve on the city's Taxi and Limousine Task Force. She is also President of Big Apple Car, a company she has helped establish as a recognized name in New York's transportation industry.

Throughout her career, Diana has operated at the intersection of entrepreneurship, finance, business development and executive leadership. At Kaaterskill Capital, that experience contributes to the firm's disciplined approach to evaluating opportunities, understanding capital requirements and developing relationships between entrepreneurs, creative professionals and sources of private capital.

Together with Joel Hunter Borrelli, Diana is repositioning Kaaterskill Capital as a selective independent film finance and development firm, bringing complementary backgrounds in finance, capital raising, entrepreneurship and independent film to the evaluation and financing of compelling motion-picture projects.

Beyond her professional activities, Diana is an avid animal advocate who devotes considerable time and resources to supporting grassroots cat-rescue efforts and is a longtime supporter of North Shore Animal League America.
